Waaaaaayyyyyy back in Episode Four of the PPP podcast, we featured a selection of bands featured in the 6 on the St documentary – an excellent 100 minute feature which used the 12 interviews and performances from the 6 on the St webseries, as well as discussions on the Adelaide music scene with Dr Ianto Ware [Project Manager, Renew Adelaide], Walter Marsh [Presenter, Radio Adelaide], Alice Fraser [Founder, La Mar Sundays + The Jam Room] and various other individuals from the Adelaide music community.
The documentary features twelve original performances from the 6 on the St featured artists including Vorn Doolette, The Thieves, Bearded Gypsy Band, Spine, Dialect & Despair, The Beards, The Salvadors, Fire! Santa Rosa, Fire!, The Shaolin Afronauts, God God Dammit Dammit, Steering By Stars and Auxilla.
The performances from Dialect & Despair, Steering By Stars and Auxilla are particular standouts, and ones I’ve gone back to watch a few times.
The full film was only played in a handful of sessions at Mercury Cinema and at Fuse Festival this year, and has otherwise remained unseen by the general public.
Until now.

The film was nominated for Best Feature Film and Best Innovation in Digital Media in the South Australian Screen Awards, and since making the documentary various team members have gone on to form A High Note and Optic Factory Productions [who are filming the PPP Presents show on Saturday] and work on projects such as Moving Music, Live At Twin Earth and Your Take Sessions.

It should also be noted that the Soundpond crew are much better grounded in the future of their project, have opened a second studio, and have been involved in a fair few high profile events…with plans to expand into a whole new station that will focus a second studio purely on live music
